What’s the Word? Mornings

Mornings are my favorite time of day. I love the feeling of having a head start on the day and on the rest of the world, even when I know that the perception is all in my mind. I especially like early mornings in summer because then it can be really, really early. Occasionally I sleep until 7am or so and feel the day has already gotten away from me.

I love the quiet of the morning. How the world and the house are still and serene.

I love the potential of the morning. My day just might materialize in the way I?d like it to. I may just cross off everything on my to-do list.

I love the awakening sensation of the morning. That transition from torpor to vitality. My mind, body, and spirit revving up to face the challenges and delights of the coming day.

I love the smells of the morning. Coffee brewing, the warm heads (that sweet spot, right at the temple) of child and spouse, still sleeping soundly.

And most of all, I love the way my spirit connects to and hears the voice of my Creator in the morning. It?s then that I sense His love and direction most clearly. It?s in the morning that my sense of identity and purpose resonates most profoundly in the deepest part of me.

It?s the anticipation of morning that compels me to retire early so I can awake to the fresh possibilities of tomorrow.
